I’m new in this forum and I’m not a ML owner. But I’m considering upgrading and, with the rave reviews the new ML-speakers have received, I’m curious to know, if these are speakers for me.

My system is built around Audio Research VT100 mkII, an all-tube amp, which I’m quite fond of. As I understand, previous speakers from ML are a difficult load for a tube-amp, but with the new models Ethos, Theos and Electromotion, the thing has changed for the better.

I do have an opportunity to listen to the new ML speakers as I’m travelling to the mainland whit in a week. Are there any you fellow ML-forumers, who have any experience in using Ethos, Theos or Electromotion with the VT-100 tube-amp ?

I'm aware that Ethos has active bass vs. Theos/Eletromotion. Which is ideal with a tube-amp ?

Any suggestion are welcome.

I have no experience of the speaker models you mentioned but I'm sure that VT100 is much happier with lighter load of active bass models. I really like VT100 but it's not the best match for low impedance load.

The ARC VT100 MkII will do fine driving the Logans. I've heard them driving my ReQuest (full-range) to loud level and it handled just fine. It's very musical with deep lows and airy, extended highs. I would match it with the panels of the Logans and let the internal bass amp handle the woofers.

If my Sony AVR can drive a pair of Theos, then I'm sure an ARC amp certainly could!
