I rake my MLs up to near vertical as well. Worked great for both the SL3s and Electromotions. But I don't like messing around with the spikes and the tensioning nuts, so I just put identical numbers of washers over the bolt. For the size I bought at the hardware store, five washers results in 0º tilt, 4 washers in about 1.5º. This is a quick, easy and solid way to do it.
