Hi Timm,

I will be leaving my depth as well between the Odyssey's after putting it back to the center position. I use the sub for music and find with the Odyssey's it makes a much more enjoyable listening experience.

Timm , my settings are 90 phase, 4 for level and plus 3 db on the 25 hz control. What are your levels set at? Glad to hear you are enjoying your sub and that it blends well for you in the center position. I initially bought long rca sub cables , but now since it is between the speakers , I plan to go with the Audioquest subwoofer cable - number 3 which several members here have suggested to get extra performance out of the sub.

Cheers

Wow - that is crazy... my level is 4 / phase is 90 and my 25hz is set to +6db - I do believe... or it may be at 3 like yours ... I will have to check -- that is pretty darn close to where you are at. Not sure if the volume level of the depth / descent is different - but - guessing it is fairly close. I am using an audioquest sub cable... not sure which one -- it is blue in color and has dual rca jacks on the input side for the sub...

Ideally, you want two identical subs for listening to music (if you have subs at all).

Hi Rich,

What is the reason for 2 identical subs and what would the substancial benefits be?Quite possibly it could overload the room and I would think integrating 2 subs would be some task.

Cheers

The reason for two subs is that you have two channels of audio, and there's bass information in both channels. I'm specifically talking about subs for music here; dual subs for the .1 of 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound aren't as important as there's only one channel of sound.

Room overloading could well be a problem, but I guess that's where judicious use of bass traps and other acoustic treatments comes in.

Sub manufacturer JL Audio places so much importance on using dual subs that they'd rather you buy two of a lesser model than one of the greater model, even though the single sub is more expensive (e.g., a pair of Fathom 113s vs a single Gotham).

I always find it funny when a manufacturer of a product says ' buy more - it will be better...' :) Anyway, I am betting they make more profit on a pair of fathoms as opposed to one gotham...

It does seem to make sense though - what you say - if for instance you have say 2 bass guitars playing in both channels - as a stupid example... I just don't think I am there though... I think I would rather spend more money on the mids and highs....Its that dang budget thing again....

I hear ya--I don't have one sub, let alone two!
