Is there a way to output a digital signal from a computer's USB hub and send the signal to a DAC? That would be great if I could use my laptop to store all my cds. If this is possible, how is the resulting sound? I know that Wavelength makes a product called the Brick, but it's too expensive and I don't need another DAC.

OOOOPS! I just reposted in the non-ML speaker category.

Use a squeezebox which will take the signal over wireless and can then go out to a dac, or a USB sound card (with a digital out, like the M-Audio Sonica Theater, like I have) which can then connect to a normal dac.

I'm going to buy the new PS Audio DAC. It has a USB input and I believe it will automatically upsample, so I'll just connect to the laptop via a USB cable. - Steve

Welcome to the club!!

Ask Hopeless, Cherian, Wayne, Burke.... and they'll all tell you that the PS Audio DAC is one mean DAC!

Thanks Joey. Have you tried yours with a PC? That's really all I want it for, to clean up the sound coming from a portable computer to my system. I've got about 500 gigs of tunes now on mybooks and will have a terabyte soon. A lot of the stuff is from records.

Have not tried it as of yet.... but I will.

The DAC is very good...

As Joey says, the PS DAC is one mean digital grilling machine! As long as you have a digital signal out of your pc to the dac you will be fine.....

I would definitely recommend:rocker: it.
