Fond memories of my my first impression years ago listening to CLX's...........
I need to go.active crossover too, but don't want to mess with it now. I'd like to in the future. New woofers might improve things too. They are great speakers.Robert this is EXACTLY my reasoning for re paneling my Odysseys, they are about the same age as your Prodigy speakers. I re paneled and converted to active crossover on the woofers which I also replaced and spent many times over less than what it would have cost to get new speakers that would match or even come close to the sound I’m getting now.
They took care of me when the board went out on my BF 210! Ron took great care of me.I traded in my beloved Odysseys for a used pair of CLX Art speakers at a used guitar shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I paid $3400 for the CLX Art with the trade-in, which I consider a great bargain! If Martin Logan Service charged me anything less than $10k to replace the panels on the CLX, I would still consider it a bargain!
There’s nothing on the market that can match the performance of these speakers for less than 20 times what I paid for them. I had to disassemble both speakers because I needed a board repair. Troubleshooting it required disassembling both speakers and transferring the panels to troubleshoot and ensure that the panel wasn’t damaged. Fortunately, it turned out to be a simple issue that Martin Logan Service easily repaired. Speaking of Martin Logan Service, they are renowned for their exceptional customer satisfaction!
You lose the higher frequencies, and overall volume. I had to have my receiver's using turned all of the way up to get enough volume. How do you know if panels need replacing? I paid $750 for my Aerius. $1000 seems a big investment. They're euro models for some reason and have 220v power supplies. Took me awhile to figure this out. Fortunately I had a transformer in my shop we weren't using that provides enough power for them. $700 for 110v power supplies...
They still sound great? Curious. My replacement was only about 4 years ago...I replaced panels on my Aerius i’s about 15 yrs ago and as I recall it was less than $500
