You can have a week on Ottawa for less - all quotes from expedia. What's a good hotel Bernard?
The Westin would be my top recommendation for location - proximity to brewpubs and nightlife. It would be brilliant if you joined us to listen to my kit.

That's interesting the Westin was the one I was looking at. In all honesty I won't be coming out this year. But the wife does want to go to Canada at some stage. We're going to have a "big" holiday next year - but at the moment I'm pretty excited by Prague.

Meanwhile the youths over here seem to be enjoying plundering B&O and Richer Sounds. Hi-Fi for free!!! Social networking and Blackberry Messangers are fuelling organised social disorder lile no other time in history. But the real reason it is happening on such a wide scale is good old television and media hype, IMHO. Plus the completely idiotic attitude towards discipline in schools over the years of the last Labour government.

Too bad you don't do classical. I hear Prague's a great place for it. Do take your pornograph along.

Discipline in schools is not just an issue there. Coming from the British educational system in the colonies (we had a holy terror of a British headmaster), I was astounded at the behaviour of some of the students in the classroom here (Canada). And this was at the university level !

You know, its summer time here and I literally havent listened to my system in over 6 weeks! I listened tonight and really forgot how good this is......Pink Floyd the Wall 24K master cd, amazing.....hearing stuff never heard before.....I think part of this is due to the new Thor mods breaking in and the CLX.....damn.....just had to share:music:

Good stuff... That reminds me that the Pink Floyd blu ray immersion box sets will be coming soon. Dark Side in early October, Wish You Were Here in November and The wall in March of 2012. Got em all on pre-order.

Pete,

Same issue here... summer time means "outside" for me. I'm grateful you and Bob dropped in. Gave me a chance to listen to my system :)

BTW, when I was in San Jose a few weeks ago (actually just before you and Bob visited), I was driving with a co-worker to a work-sponsored event (outdoor kart racing or some such) when we heard on the radio "Playing tonight at the Shoreline Amphitheater: Kansas, Yes, and Styx! - tickets available at the door - drop what you're doing and come hear the classic bands jam all night long". I looked over at James and whipped out my iPhone (he was driving). Mapped Shoreline Theater and found it it was just 5 miles away! We bailed on the company event, took the next exit off the 101, got back on the 101 headed south... and within minutes found ouselves parking, buying tickets to the upper lawn seating area, buying large Blue Moon wheat beers, and settling in just in time for "Point of No Return". How crazy is that? The bands, while borderline-geriatric, sounded surprisingly GOOD. Great sound reinforcement and a large hi-def projected image of the stage = all good! We could see the stage directly as well, and could make out the band members, but my tri-focals were pretty much at their limit. A few other work-mates called to see where we had gone... we told them... they bailed on the function too, and 30 minutes later, 5 of us were there - more beer, strange herbal clouds floating about from nearby aged rockers, and "Roundabout" by Yes, filling the ampitheater and stoking our memories from decades past.

It's the un-premeditated events like this that are most fun. :)

I would have rather went Kart racing myself but then I am a road racing fool. I am glad you enjoyed it.

I don't dislike cart-racing... but that's always available. Whereas a night with three classic bands from the 70s... not always available.

I can't relate to that...even when the weather is really good over here. For I am an addict and I need my sonic fix.

I can probably manage a week without quality sounds. If I do that, my system never ceases to bowl me over. If I listen to it 3 times a week for 4 hours a stint, say, I'm always impressed, but never as comprehensively bowled over.

The truth is, great sonics and my neural net need each other. They are, in fact, the best of friends.

Keep on rockin' in the free world...:rocker:

Sounds like you had a great time. I love the feeling a wiff of good weed/hash gives to a live music venue. Makes it feel real - like music is meant to be experienced. So I empathise with the wise old people - they've got it right - given a few stiff drinks added into the mix as well.:)

Agreed... or I should say I'm in historical agreement. The olfactory impact is like a magic carpet time machine, just as it was during this recent show - but like our President Clinton (sorta), I no longer inhale (very deeply, much) ;)

So I have been complaining about my small room and not getting the proper depth/stage. I decided what the hell and pushed my CLX just about against the sidewalls and holy crap! the stage and depth are now way bigger. I hesitated to do this becuase I thought that no side room would be dentrimental to the sound, but it seems to work in my room...at the moment....
