Hi all,
I recently purchased a pair of Ascents. I had owned a pair of Sequels and loved the sound, but had to sell them to thin out my audio collection. I then regretted the decision and sought out a replacement. When i found these Ascents, I had high hopes they would be better than my sequels. I drove about 120 miles each way to pick them up. Unfortunately, upon setting them up at home, they sounded muddy and closed in. I had left my music at home and listened to hip hop at the sellers home. I tried to diagnose the problem and found the panels were slightly flattened at the bottom of the panel, and also the connection seemed loose. I removed the panels and vacuumed them, and then gently bent the lower panel to round it out again, but when I reinstalled them, there was no sound, I tried to resolder the blue wire to the stator panel, and now all I have is popping. To top it all off, I now see a vertical tear going from top to botton the entire length of the panel, there is no significant creasing yet. I wonder if the tear will affect the sound quality and should I just look for a new panel, I'd rather source out used panels as the new ones are now going for $860 + 60 shipping.
