Placing panels less than 2ft to front wall..advise please

Or you can make the Beakman el- quick and almost cheapo panels by getting some fiberglass ceiling tiles, stripping the plastic face off and stacking them. cover to suit.

Placing panels less than 2ft to front wall..advise please

You can fine tune the absorption panel placement by walking around each speaker with your ear perpendicular to the front wall. locate where you hear reflection (more dB's than elsewhere) and move your panels to that location. do the same in the front room corners too. you can use flat panels...

    CLS panel repair

McMaster-Carr is an excellent supplier of industrial hardware and materials. see what's in their catalog online. you don't have to have a large order either. PS: have you considered a small section of channel bridging the two faces, filled with epoxy and clamped until set?

    Summit vibration

I hope the distributor performs better than your Summits too. Nothing wrong with your post, caar, but don't expect any free merchandise though

    Summit vibration

Yea well, I've got a pair of 20 year old ML's that do that (and only one), which is to be expected. Not from a warranty age relatively new product. I've also had my Vantages up so loud the dust covers were billowing and had no "Kazoo"-ing then or since. Sounds more like the current ML service...

    What are your listening habits?

As the youngest of four growing up in the late 60's and 70's, I had an esoteric choice of music. My father's classical albums, and I do mean albums, those book-like collections of a composer's works; my older siblings pop, jazz, and rock albums. It wasn't until my early twenties when I moved out...

What album or song is your guilty pleasure?

What album or song is your guilty pleasure?

Pale Saints - "Slow Buildings" I was freaking out when I couldn't find it recently, jonesin', mannnn:eek:

    What Earbud Headphones?

I crushed the wires on my Etymotic earphones last trip and didn't notice until this one. So, today I made a run into the local electronics store for an emergency pair and walked out with a pair of "Skullcandy FMJ's" What garbage, and they weren't cheap either. Mud city, like your head is in...

    Too much room treatment?

I have a moistly reflective front wall behind the CLS, wallboard, windows with blinds, light drapes and small shelves. In my recent experiments with speaker position I've found that less than 3-1/2' from the front wall gives an increasing effect of "lifelessness" as distance decreases. Absolute...

    what a Jerk

Oh Yea? Well, I think Bush is a jerk, Obama is a jerk, and McCartney is a jerk, which is why I don't hang out with them anymore.

    They're Here!

I'll have to redo my whole member system thread at this point. I'll try to get some photos up, when I can't say.

    They're Here!

One of the benefits of travelling is to come back home with a fresh ear. I have moved the speakers closer together since then. I actually had a "W" soundstage more than a hole ("V"). The room is 21', the front wall, by around 25' but that includes the kitchen section taking up 25% of one corner...

    They're Here!

And hooked up in the system! A matched pair of VMPS Original Subwoofers I bought on Audiogon from a very dependable Eric A. out from Virginia. I installed them as soon as I opened the very well packed boxes, Didn't change a thing on my settings yet and WOW! what a difference. Wow! What an...

    I think I got cheated

Nope, you had told me of everything to expect with the speakers, and I accepted that and bought them. I received what you described so I say that's a very square deal. Don't worry about any misrepresentation on your part. There was none.

    I think I got cheated

:eek:God No! I was referring to the MR-78 that was dropped out of an aeroplane onto my doorstep. Nothing wrong with the speakers. PS: My references were about sight unseen purchases over the net. I talked to all these folks on the phone. Brad, I would not class you as a "Tweako". You are indeed...

    I think I got cheated

Only being in this game for a relatively short time, I too have gotten less than the anticipated goods. I suspect for the same reason - they talked a good game about being a fellow enthusiast and I mistook that for competence and honesty. Now here's the kicker. The people into tweako oddities...

    Are my panels broken?

ok. It's "Kraken", Kra-kin! That dumb ass remake has it all wrong! Thus the speaker may be Krakeling and there's the rub.
