    jolida jd100 or rotel rcd1072 ??

I had a Rotel RCD 1072 and thought it was a great cd player for the small amount of money it cost. The only competition for cd player I heard was the Rega Apollo which costs more. You can find a Rotel on Audiogon for as low as $450.00 if you take your time. The Rotel is a great value and you...

    Advice on ML with subwoofer

I had the Aeon I model also. The Grotto sub I own is the older model and I still have it in my system. It works great with the Aeon 1 speakers. The Grotto sub added the needed bass I desired. As I mentioned before, the Vantage speakers did not need a subwoofer to achieve good bass. Jim

    Advice on ML with subwoofer

Well, from my experience, you can add McIntosh to this list when you include Vantage's powered woofers. Jim

    Advice on ML with subwoofer

My previous setup was ML Aeon 1 speakers and added a ML Grotto because the Aeon speakers were bass shy. I upgraded later to ML Vantage and I still have my ML Grotto in my system. The Vantage speakers do not need the sub but I already had one so I left it in and set the crossover to 35. The ML...

The new CLX is HERE ........ indeed!

My only complaint is about the wood trim. For $20,000 dollars, more effort could have been done about the right angle wood trim design. Any wood working shop could have made that 90 degree right angle trim fairly inexpensively. I believe they could have at least made the wood design more like...

    A DAY TO REMEMBER ! What a day !

Audio Perfection is where I purchased my McIntosh MC252 amp and 201 SACD player. They have a fine selection of equipment and Eric is extremely helpful in a non salesman manner. Plenty of Mac, Audio Research, etc in different rooms for each price level. Great service and selection. Highly...

Stereophile recommended - No Martin Logans?

I agree with you. I was just suprised that Stereophile didn't think one of the Martin Logan speakers: Summit, Vantage, or Vista were recommended. Jim

Stereophile recommended - No Martin Logans?

I do not feel I am qualified to recommend equipment to anyone as I have not demoed enough different gear. One of the great things about this site is there are qualified people which have tons of experience with different equipment. My narrow concern is that the tiny amount of gear I have heard(...

Stereophile recommended - No Martin Logans?

I was reading my Stereophile April 2008 issue and found not even the Summits were in their reccommend speakers list. :confused:Stereophile also didn't find any McIntosh amps (except for the MC275) or Magnepans worthy either. Boy, they love Vandersteen though. ;)There seems to be some bias going...

    Martin Logan Spires

I suspect we may see the Vista & Vantage go away and have a new powered speaker take up the Vantage price point, to be sold at the "consumer electronics" retail points (Best Buy) leaving the Spire and Summit to the high end dealers. They may obsolete the Vantage or Vista but I would doubt...

    Martin Logan Spires

I love the look of the Spires also. Looking at the price of them I wonder if it would be better to just get the Summits. The upgrade of the larger Summit panel and slight increase in bass from the Vantages make me wonder to either get the Vantages or the Summits. I guess we will have to listen...

    Sub question

Martin Logan subs are servo controlled and match well with the Vantage Speakers. The question is: are you going to listen to 2 channel for music or Home theatre? If you are interested in the best for 2 channel music, I would consider a more musical sub like the Martin Logan line or Rel. Some...

    Which tap?

I was told at the dealer I bought my amp from to use the 4 ohm tap for the McIntosh MC252 amp with Martin Logan Vantage speakers. I would call your McIntosh dealer to be sure. Jim ps McIntosh amps sound great with ML Vantage speakers.

    Potential Owner

I have found that McIntosh gear matched with ML Vantage speakers give me the best of both worlds: warm nonfatiguing sound of mac equipment with the wide & revealing soundstage which the ML Vantage speakers deliver. I have been very happy with the synergy of this combination. Jim

    Monster Powered Amps

I like the warmer McIntosh "house sound" which the MC252 - 250 watt per channel provides. I compared it to the mac 402 and didn't hear enough difference between these two amps to upgrade. The MC252 amp has plenty of power. I am very happy with my selection. No buyers remorse. Jim

Your digital source - rega/Esoteric opinions

BTW - I wasn't inferring that the Rega Saturn or the Ayre cd players didn't sound great. For my personal tastes, I wanted the warmest, analog cd player I could find. I also think that the Rotel 1072 cd player is the best for the money cd player out there. If I was on a budget, I would either...

Your digital source - rega/Esoteric opinions

I purchased a Rega Saturn but returned it because it didn't sound much different than my Rotel 1072 player. (You can get a Rotel 1072 for around $400 used on Audiogon). I tried the Ayre CX-7e next. This player's sound signature was even more similar to the Rotel. A Longer listening time in my...
