Since he has had experience listening to your Logan's then the Vista's should not be too much of a gamble on his part. If he wants more bottom end he will either need a fairly beefy amp or upgrade to the Vantage's that have a built in amplifier. Or he could just add a Logan sub or two on down...

Hey Larry, I would give the Ayre a try in your system if you have not already tried them. If you are looking new then the K-5xe preamp with the V-5xe amp would fit your budget. Or if you go used then the K-1xe is a great preamp that can be had for around $4500 on audiogon when they show up...

I would have to say hiring out Jim Smith to voice my room by moving the Vantages to where they sounded best. This upgrade overall was what set the foundation for me to judge any other future upgrades on an even playing field. Glen
