Here are some reviews you may (or may not) have read from when the Original Aerius were introduced: Enjoy ! (I've enjoyed my used ones for two decades now.)

    Aerius I Trim Removal

I have a pair of the "original" bi-wired Aerius, and (I guess luckily) have had absolutely NO problems of any kind (except some visible fine dust particles on the lower halves of the woofers, if that might bother some folk). Mine were manufactured in June 1993 (code AEEF), and bought...

    System #56 (Aerius i)

OK, 0.75 meters is more than the minimum 2 feet (0.60 meters), so you are within the recommended distance to the wall behind the speakers. :giggle: I spent about 2 years experimenting with toe-in, and that was the hardest to settle on. Too much or too little seemed to affect the flatness of the...

    System #56 (Aerius i)

I'm estimating your panels are about 0.5 meters from your wall (1.5 floor tiles). Closer to a full meter would be better, but if you can't, you can't. :giggle: Here are the recommendations from my M-L Aerius user manual. I have played with positioning ever since I had them, a cm farther here, a...

    System #56 (Aerius i)

Have you tried moving the Ethos to nearer the edge of the carpeting ? This might give you more soundstage depth and less of a bass near-field reflection off the hard tile floor. I like the M-Ls at least a meter from the rear wall, especially when it just a flat reflecting surface. I have...

Which Amp to buy? The most frequently asked question on this site. READ THIS!!

re TomDac's posting above, I commented on the forum he referred to: (Quote:) A section here on the MLO site of recommended amplifiers: http://www.martinloganowners.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?64-Amplifiers These are ML owners who have taken the time to write about the amplifier they're using with...

    Naim poweramps 180 & 250

I also have the original Aerius, which I have powered since the late 1990s with an Adcom GFA6000 5 channel power amp in 2 channel mode (that gives those channels a bit more power reserve, I believe). I have always been satisfied with the sound and had originally heard these speakers with much...

    summits/avr receiver?

For interest's sake, when I found my used Aerius back in the late 1990s, they were being run at the dealership in a hallway (quietly) by a desktop system similar to this (see photo). It sounded good enough for me to by the Aerius, but they suggested I buy the Adcom GFA600, which I did..

Issue with Sequel II's Woofer (TORN)

Yes, the Quest Z's came out the year after my Aerius did, which have reverse polarity on the woofers (1993 vs 1992), so they most likely had the same approach to both speaker designs. Would make a lot of sense. Never got to hear the CLS IIz's, sadly.

Issue with Sequel II's Woofer (TORN)

My Aerius are wired out of phase as M-L believes that gives a more linear response at the crossover point. See Audio Ideas Guide test results from 1993, excerpt attached:

Issue with Sequel II's Woofer (TORN)

I bought the Garrard because you could remove the tall changer spindle and use it's other short single disk spindle. I never used it as a changer: just bought it because it was an exact fit into that original cabinet where my cheap white-metal manual turntable sat, mounting holes correctly...

Issue with Sequel II's Woofer (TORN)

My first "system" that I tried to build from kits (after the RCA my dad gifted me didn't live up to my needs), were an Eico preamp and power amp (tube-based) with a Stromberg-Carlson 1/4 wavelength bass reflex speaker, a Garrard turntable/changer and Goldring magnetic cartridge. My soldering...

Issue with Sequel II's Woofer (TORN)

I have a pair of used (bought in 1999) original Aerius. The outputs were strapped when I got them, but thought I'd try bi-wiring (12 gauge) soon afterwards (to the same amp posts). Although I cannot prove there is any difference, I tried reinstalling the straps again at one time, and seemed to...

Hi, I'm Kevin and I'm a dipole addict.

The Generator worked fine when I heard it with the Carver Amazing ribbon speakers.

Hi, I'm Kevin and I'm a dipole addict.

----------------------------- Although I'm quite "out of the league" of most owners here, I still kept my Carver C-9 Sonic Hologram Generator, which I bought while using B&W speakers in the 1980s, although I haven't used it since I bought my M-L original Aerius hybrids decades ago. I found that...

    I’m not prying, but . . .

We are seniors, both retired and living on incomes that just "do". I haven't made a major "new" purchase of anything, stereo or A/V since my Denon AVR-1312 5.1 receiver in 2011. Below I have listed my components, to show I don't exactly have the latest and greatest, but they serve my purposes...

Reviews - what can be trusted?

I'll keep my original Aerius hybrids, thank you. They reviewed well back then and sound just fine right now ;-) I've never heard Ladysmith Black Mambazo better (on Paul Simon's Graceland CD). You'd swear they were in the room with you ;-) Same goes for Jennifer Warnes and Diana Krall. It was...

can any home receiver power martin logan electrostatic speakers like source

The Adcom is not in the upper echelons of power amps, as it cannot deliver twice the power into 4 ohms, but the 150 watts RMS/channel it can deliver in 2 channel mode far exceeds my needs at the output levels I listen at (and is mostly classical chamber music and light jazz combos). I do not use...

    newbie from Toronto canada

I was considering trying my "original" Aerius' (purchased in 2000) with an old 5.1 receiver in case I ever have to REALLY downsize (or sell off all but one basic system). The receiver I have has reasonable specs and I do NOT play music loudly (mostly chamber music and jazz combos). Attached is...

    CLX: power cables

Whether it's "real" or just your "perception", if it makes you happy and doesn't bankrupt you (or result in your family being deprived), go for it. I played with various interconnect cables for years and eventually discovered that a cable I had not liked at one time I liked at another. Maybe my...
