You got it.. analog out to the AVR. That way you're taking advantage of the DAC in the Oppo (which should be much better) versus the AVR.

If you're considering the Oppo BDP 95, it has a distinct DAC for analog audio. I doubt any AVR would have a built in DAC that could even come close so I would use the analog outs for CD. For computer audio, again, I doubt ant any AVR doubt have a decent enough built in DAC to do your Vista's...

Check out the Schiit BiFrost. It's getting great reviews on HeadFi. That would be the absolute minimum I would do with your new system. I'm using the Arcam rDAC for its great USB implementation but it would not do justice to your system. How about a PS Audio DLIII? Tried it in my headphone...

CD is pretty much outdated for me. Just keep my top 20 or so CD's, DVD-A and SACD's accessible when I want to spin. Loved MiniDisc but like tape, it was limited and was replaced by my iPod. Although I still purchase CD's, they get ripped to Apple lossless and get put in storage.
