    Got a rattle? Check this . . .

When I read "rattle" all I could think about was the car classic "marbles in the ashtray". I could just hear you say, "THAT'S where I lost my marbles!"

Foundation Research Power Cord With Integral Conditioner

Hey Greg, Welcome back! I was wondering where you had gone. Yup, those LC1s were a HUGE improvement to my system; I was lucky to get three within such a short period. I didn't realize that there was so much potential in my system. Stereoman's SR Black fuse upgrade was to the LC10s. I'm...

    The DON / redux

Supposedly Obama wanted to, but was stopped by Congress. It's just a matter of time before a US missile hits a Russian installation, or vice versa. I can just see WWIII.

    The DON / redux

They probably wouldn't have to cut social programs if Trump stopped going to Florida so often....reportedly $3M+ per trip for security. Social programs are needed by a lot of people who voted for him. I agree with you Rich on the cuts....cut the guns, not the food, to put it bluntly. I just...

    Hello

Welcome Pete! Tell us about your system....what you are going to use to drive the Quests, what you are going to use them for (HT and/or music), etc. Pictures are always welcomed....we like audio porn here.

    USB microscope

Steve, what make of microscope did you buy, and how do you like it? I see there are some that cost as low as $20.

The Story of an EAR-diophile ... and the humor and insanity ! (long fun read)

Gordon, where in Canada are you moving to?

Foundation Research Power Cord With Integral Conditioner

You jest Sir, but I hate those connectors with a passion as there is no standard. When I plugged the first LC1 into my DAC, I was sure that the connector would fall out if I just moved the DAC a bit; this actually almost happened after. It seems better with the latest LC1, but I'm going to...

Foundation Research Power Cord With Integral Conditioner

I managed to score yet another one of those rare Foundation Research LC1 units, so I now have one powering each speaker and one powering my DAC. The combination is incredible.....very realistic, in some cases making the speakers disappear! All I need now is one more, to power my preamp.....and...

The Story of an EAR-diophile ... and the humor and insanity ! (long fun read)

I used to have a Conrad Johnson pre-preamp that used nuvistors, which were acknowledged to be microphonic, so CJ went to the trouble of suspending the circuit board using elastic bands, so that vibrations would have minimal impact. And my Audio Research amplifiers were supplied with tube...

The Story of an EAR-diophile ... and the humor and insanity ! (long fun read)

Gordon, I have a set of four puck-like rubber Vibrapods that I bought used cheap (20 bucks or so) that I haven't yet experimented with. I should. I also have a few cones that I experimented with years ago that are lying unused. I may well, however, take you up on your offer of the Mapleshade...

The Story of an EAR-diophile ... and the humor and insanity ! (long fun read)

Gordon, if it's pretty damn cheap, I'm in, so spill the beans......what are you recommending without naming it, old buddy? Roberto recommended pine blocks under my power amps, but not touching the rubber feet, and they seemed to improve the bass, but made the amps physically unstable, so I...

The Story of an EAR-diophile ... and the humor and insanity ! (long fun read)

Great write up Chris (but I hope we don't get anyone else unnecessarily quoting it - one of my pet peeves on any forum). I have a question (and I am not being facetious or sarcastic by any means): after you have tweaked to that accuracy (and I confess to not having the patience for it), are you...

    Mixing old & new

The volume control in your ARC consists of a slider on a conductive plastic track. It is an inexpensive and inaccurate component that gets noisy with time; you hear the noise when you rotate the control to change the setting of the volume. Injecting a cleaning spray fixes the problem for a...

    The DON / redux

Here's some stuff on Mercer. In this day and age, I don't know if it is real or fake. http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3021#.WMiQ-w9nAAw.email

    Turntable Lamp

Dave, looks good, but it is freestanding and looks like it could topple over easily. I don't like anything unsecured near my turntable. The one I posted has a clamp.

    Turntable Lamp

Here's a lamp that looks like it would be useful for lighting up LPs. I have a small spot intended for that purpose, but I can never see blank grooves between songs, so it's useless. Seems good for $60, including shipping. Made by the Illuminati! :)...

    The DON / redux

Rich, I would change your first few words to, "...any intelligent person should know.." Looking at it as a Canadian, I find it incredible that you guys don't have a single-payer system. Admittedly, we sometimes have to wait a while for some procedures, but they do get done. Ten years ago I...

    Connectors?

Lockable bananas. I can't remember where I got mine, several years ago, but posted a link here at the time. They were on amazon, from a company in Southern California, and reasonably-priced. Monster used to make some, called X-Terminators. No idea if they still do.
