    Anyone else have this?

:D I'm the complete package - come with the ego to match too  -D

    Anyone else have this?

Glad you've seen a doc about it. I'm getting my doctorate in Audiology so I thought I'd throw the important questions out on the board in case you hadn't been to a doc yet. Recruitment is technically the abnormal return to normal loudness levels. Basically means that with reduced hearing...

    Anyone else have this?

Most people have intermittent tinnitus but without heavy noise exposure, it rarely becomes permanent. Yes, caffeine aggravates it. Actually just about everything can irritate it. By the way, I would have been one of those trumpet players :D -D

    Anyone else have this?

ARC - I doubt it was caused by your last system.... :D And no, just because you lose something doesn't mean you can't enjoy listening - I still do. It just gets in the way in the really quiet passages. And as a by the way, hearing loss isn't measured in %ages. Peter - I doubt the asymmetry...

    Anyone else have this?

Just curious if anyone else has tinnitus (buzzing, ringing, hissing, humming, noise which can't be attributed to an external source) which interferes with critical listening. Mine used to but I got used to it and it really only bothers me when I go to bed now. I first noticed mine when I was...

got 2 new fun audiophile bits!

Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm not going to pull "a Kevin" and argue the point to death. :D What type of rubber is it? But I am curious if you've ever tried rubber "feet"ish things on the bottom of your speakers instead of the spikes that I assume ML provides with the speakers you've got...

    Interesting Observation

Just found a CD recorded by a professor of mine (Mead Killion of Etymotic Research and Knowles prior to creating his own company) and threw it on for fun. I've listened to the CD before - primarily for reasons other than listening to music as its got various demonstrations or simulations of...

    best cd player under $2k

You can get a LINN CD player on the used market for under 2K. Just saw this - http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?dgtlplay&1113234095 I'd jump on that if I had the money. Damn grad school. -D

    Wi-Fi and home audio componets.

    Shouldn't interfere. -D

    Interesting article....

Major flaw in the article is they do not mention the system being used for playback. They could very well be using small sony satellites and an 8" sony sub (as the first thing that came to mind) which might incluence the results - as opposed to using Prodigy's for all 5 channels with a real...

    Interesting article....

What plugs do you use? I hate to admit it, but I haven't had the time yet to read the article so I cannot comment on anything. -D

    Interesting article....

On the effects of multi-channel audio on presence. http://www.acoustics.hut.fi/icad2001/proceedings/papers/freeman.pdf -D

The ongoing new SACD Player Purchase...

Obviously the the multi-channel layer (if applicable) would sound better on a player that supports that feature, but I'd imagine the Adcom would do a better job with everything else. Then again, I could be wrong. The universal Denon 2200 that I have sounds pretty damn close to my Rotel...

    Any guitar players out there?

I'm gonna pick up a guitar and teach myself how to play, but need some suggestions on what brands have a decent sound - on a students budget. -D

    ML- PowerCords (should we upgrade?)

That was my original thesis before my department chair decided she didn't like it.... -D

    ML- PowerCords (should we upgrade?)

The ear is actually fairly decent at doing what it does assuming a non-pathologic ear. As to the succession - depends on the rate of succession. But that aside, I pretty much agree with the rest of what you wrote. -D

    ML- PowerCords (should we upgrade?)

I'm interested to see the results. But I'd rather see non-invansive electrophysiologic testing showing that people are capable of hearing that 10th of a percent difference - or whatever it is. You might want to run these tests for your own company - depending on the results it'd be great...
