    ML at 2015 CES

Over the four days I made 3 listening trips to ML. The first two were about 30 minutes each and the third was a 2.5 hour marathon sitting in the sweet spot. Much of the music was familiar to me. Eva Cassidy, Keb Mo, Muddy Waters and John Coltrane were among the artists. Some classical and an...

    ML at 2015 CES

As I mentioned the staff was great. At one point I was asked what color I was getting and when I pointed at the speakers and said "Ferrari Red" just like those, he grinned and told me that each of the guys got to pick one color and he had chosen the red. It turns out he had been the one that...

    ML at 2015 CES

The associated equipment included: Berkeley Audio Design Alpha DAC Reference Series. At $16,000 you can spend more but IMHO you can't buy a better DAC. Of course I'm biased as I have one. Krell Solo 575, that's 575 watts per channel at 8 Ohms and about $11,250 each. The Neoliths come in...

    ML at 2015 CES

View of Neolith CES set up. I was thinking sound not vision and therefore I didn't take many pictures and what I took were not very good. As you can see the room is a little tight. Approximately 2 feet from the side walls and 5 or so from the front wall.

    ML at 2015 CES

CES 2015 ended on Friday and for me it was the most fun CES in a number of years. For one thing I was able to free myself for four uninterrupted days of the latest tech. But what really made this CES special was Martin Logan. Not just the new Neolith's, but more importantly the people from ML. I...

    Neolith North American Tour

CES started yesterday and I got my first look at the Neolith. They are impressive. I had decided to purchase red and the demo unit is red. My color instinct was validated as they are stunning in red. I only listened to 4 or 5 songs and the SQ was world class. Of course they were pieces that...

The importance of an audition period including return - refund options

Gordon, I bought my Pass Labs XA-160.5 and XP-20 from Mark at Reno Hi-Fi. Very professional and great service. I second your recommendation. Gary

    Sacd vs blu ray audio

    I have compared several albums over a variety of formats using A/B comparisons as best I can. I have two Oppos in my Vegas system the 93 and the 95. The 93 plays HDMI into a Meridian HD621 > 861 v6 > Bryston 28BSST^2> CLX. The Oppo 95 S/PDIF >Meridian 861 v6 >Bryston 28BSST^2> CLX (here I'm...

    Neolith North American Tour

I have Velodyne DD-18 Plus' which are -3dB at 14 Hz and you could say the Thigpen will slaughter them too but to what end. I probably have only a couple of disks/albums/blu rays with any content down to 16 Hz. I don't know, maybe the cannons in the 1812 Overture? Gary

    Need advice CLX VS Spires

Fusion, Your SVS pb13's will work fine with the CLX's. Even in your 20'x20' room you will get great sound. As you can see my friend Roberto is over the top in love with the CLX and he is pretty close to the truth as I see it. I want my speakers to sound like the musicians are in the room. I have...

    Neolith North American Tour

Yes, Adam did say it very well. And yes, they will sell some. So far I have read nothing to deter me from purchasing a pair. When I asked some of the ML guys why they didn't push for an extra 3 dB worth of bass they poked fun at my complaining about so little. They said the 23 Hz was measured...

    Neolith North American Tour

Here's a post I made 3 years ago. Made some changes since then but the concept is pretty much the same. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=100752.20 Gary

OK! Esoteric K1 is the winner. ==• now we need to move to the speaker!!!!!}{[]>

I'm reasonably familiar with the TAD speaker line. I first heard the TAD Reference ones at January 2003 CES and I have spent about 2 hours with Andrew Jones each year since then. He is very accommodating. On top of this I have owned for seven years the trickle down Pioneer S-1EX's with the...

    Neolith North American Tour

I use CLX's with Prodigys in a 7.1 system through a Meridian 861 v6 processor. I am considering the Neoliths with CLX sides and Prodigy rears. I use 4 subs (2 Velodyne DD 18's and 2 ML Descents) so the thin bass described on AVS will be overcome. Gary

    Neolith North American Tour

Your sub may help but the Vistas are actually -3dB at 43 Hz so they will come up a little short. Gary

    Neolith North American Tour

Well at least some people over at AVS were at the Neolith demo: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/173-2-channel-audio/1754778-martin-logan-demonstrates-neolith-speaker-system.html Read it and enjoy. Gary

Movies that should be seen on the BIG Screen

OK so I made it to the opening of "Interstellar" last night. Went to an IMAX in Valencia, CA with great anticipation. When the movie started they had the volume up so LOUD that during the dynamic portions of the movie there was so much distortion you could not understand the dialogue. I like...

Imagine That: Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader

Gordon, I agree. I am hoping they don't revert back to the days of Tom Delay. I met Mitch McConnell back in 2000. Didn't say I know him but we attended the same function in D.C. Said hello pleased to meet you and that's it. However, that was enough for me to watch the man and his career closely...

Imagine That: Mitch McConnell as Senate Majority Leader

That was a great Election. Now there will be no Harry Reid to keep legislation off the table and protect Obama's image. Here we come Keystone pipeline. Here we come tax reform. Here we come adjustments on the ACA. That was a wave election. Regards Gary:D

    A new age of fear

Gordon, I could go on and hammer on the Dems but then if I look right and left and I dig through history I see politics is filled with this junk. If you watch Fox News you will start to believe all dems are Communists. If you watch CNBC you will think Repulicans just want to protect those evil...
