    Focus question

The mount for the Focus is really easy to work with.

    Focus question

Not recommended. Not stable enough. The depth of the speaker varies due to the curve front, so the legs of a tv panel would most likely be deeper than the speaker where they would most likely be placed. And, the speaker sounds better when aimed at the listener, so this means angled up when it's...

what amp to use with Renaissance 15a

Before I bought mine, I was told by a Magnolia dealer that demo units come up from time to time, as well as those who decided to take the plunge and return the C18 and get a C34.

what amp to use with Renaissance 15a

I can't speak to the ESL C, but, if you want trust in a blind faith decision, get the Focus ESL C18. A friendly dealer can knock off 20% from the price. Yes, I know, still double the price. But it's one of those "end game" products, at least, for those of us who don't have the space for a C34A.

    New ML Owner

Actually, the boxes collapse. Remove the contents of the box, then collapse the shell and keep the innards together in a bag or another smaller box. This way, the inner packaging can be stacked together. It all takes up much less space. Or, use one box for all the packing contents and flatten...

    Impedance Anyone?

Can't go wrong with a pair of JC-1 amps! Fantastic choice! I too had lots of fun building my M-125 amps. Learned a lot in the process. There is one bit of magic in the soundstage, there is a realism that I haven't witnessed with other amps. But that is really the only thing lacking with my...

    Best speaker cable for CLS?

oops. You know what? I was confusing this thread with another I responded to earlier. I don't have access to the cables I used nine years ago. But, I can make some test cables with high Capacitance and measure what happens.

    Impedance Anyone?

Could be room response is similar, dunno. When I did those sweeps the mic was placed in the MLP and was pointed up. This weekend I want to take more of the room out of the equation and put the mic closer to the speaker and aim the mic at the speaker.

    Best speaker cable for CLS?

Yes. But now that I'm trying to think of a response to your question to explain "how" the frequency range would be altered, I'm now not certain how much of the range is lowered, vs raising the upper range that is falling off. I'll have to see if I have before/after examples I can pull from to...

    Best speaker cable for CLS?

Nine years ago I did a test of about a half dozen cables with a Krell amp, Vista speakers, and two generations earlier of pre/pro than I have now, but similar voltage output. I went from the ridiculous on up the food chain, starting with 16 gauge zip cord, then basic AQ Star Quad ($50-60...

    Impedance Anyone?

I would say that most amps would have difficulty driving low impedance such as the ML stats present. I first started testing the frequency response specifically because I knew there were instruments in the recordings I was listening to but wasn't hearing them when using the tube amps like when I...

Classic 9 vs. ESL Amp Requirements

I think both the Emotiva and the Willsenton amps will have some difficulty with the Classic 9. Not so much with the power, but with the upper frequencies rolling off when the impedance drops below each amp's comfort zone. The minimum impedance of your Classic 9 is about half that of the ESL...

Bass with different amp and ARC

It's just that the new models will have more mature setup features, WiFi (current models just have wired network), and other niceties. They are calling the new models +, like XMC-2+, etc. At least that's what they're saying now anyway.

Bass with different amp and ARC

Short answer, Love It! The XMC-2 has been great for me, even though it had a bootup error that bricked it a couple years ago. Sent it in and got it back in six days. My previous two Emotiva processors did not need any repair. Full disclosure, there are folks who've had issues with their...

Bass with different amp and ARC

The 11A internal amps take on the character of the amp connected to the speaker. I did a comparison of a Krell S-1500 and Bob Latino M-125 tube amp. Below the crossover of my 13A of 300Hz the bass was +1dB higher with the tube amp, but identical from 300Hz to 6kHz, above which the Krell had the...

    Impedance Anyone?

I used a low frequency, low bandwidth clamp (compared to other Oscope clamps out there which are much higher frequency and bandwidth) for oscilloscope usage. Even so, at the low power levels I was measuring it was initially a struggle to find a level that was consistent. The clamp I have for...

    Impedance Anyone?

Thank you! You mean you guys didn't spread everything out on the living room rug and use a tiny stool to sit on? Maybe this will jog your engineering memory: Now basically the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motion of conductors and fluxes...

New Member Seeking Opinions/Sanity Checks Regarding Sequel II to ESL15a Upgrade

No soldering needed. Just unplug some wires, then plug in the new ones. Someone else around here swapped out an amp tray a year or two ago and reported it being pretty simple.

New Member Seeking Opinions/Sanity Checks Regarding Sequel II to ESL15a Upgrade

Yes, swap the speaker amp trays. The trays and are "relatively" easy to remove/replace. With that said, I can't find any videos showing how this is done. But I do know that the feet need to be removed, then the "sockets" that the feet are screwed into. Beyond that, I don't know what to expect...
