    Problems with a CLSIIz panel

I had that problem, but I was due to try to play them too loud with a heavy bass content. I learned that they did not like this. For a normal listening level, I never had that kind of issue, having here in CR, a lot of humidity. Our climate is humid for 8 months of the year. The odd sound...

    Problems with a CLSIIz panel

Hola Lightloopy, The stat panel has two sides and the center. The wider side goes outside. So you have a right speaker and a left speaker. On the other hand, the room must be equal at the back wall, if there is an opening, where the opening is, that's the weaker level speaker. Having a...

    Hello everyone, new member

Hola and welcome Slava, All electrostatic speakers make odd noises once and then. Usually this noises are easy to locate. The noise is a debris between the front stat panel and the diaphragm. First find the exact place from where the odd noise is coming. Mark the place with a little piece of...

The lower frequencies are at the both sides of the stat panels. Having you the second older model, both sides have the same width. The CLSIIz, the left speaker has wider the left outside of the stat panel, and the right has wider the right side of the stat panel. The CLXs are totally...

CLS II Stator panel and electronics different years

lightloopy, That's your liking. I had more than 28 years the CLS, I really do know of what you are talking about. I had all the CLS models. They are not perfect, but their magical sound quality is with the voices and not too many musical instruments! I hear you too. Sometimes that magic...

    CLSIIz improvements?

Hola Kotedo, 1) no, it is just for turn on the bias for the stat panels. There is no important audio signal there. 2) Why do you want to do that? Those caps are high quality. 3) There are three transformers. At the left, where the voltage ladder is, there is another transformer. The other...

    Unable to figure this out.

Poltergeist? Just kidding. There must be an atmosphere lighting strike...you never know the path of a high voltage. The energy jumps the switches and can cause that kind of damage. Happy listenng!

Washing panels without taking them off speakers

Hola Jason1121, That hissing noise, do you have the power amplifier turned on? Do this: play 10 seconds of a song, and then, turn off the power amplifier. Do you still have the hissing noise? The hissing could be the output stage of your power amplifier, this is called signal to noise ratio...

Washing panels without taking them off speakers

Yes, only one side, this is reason why you should wash only front side. The conductive coat is located at the front only. Believe it or not. The diaphragm is so thin, that only one side is necessary to have the bias voltage. Happy listening!

At the back panel, it is not conductive coat, it is not necessary. Happy listening!

    New Member looking for advice

Vacuum helps, in my experience, for odd noises. The problem here is bias voltage to the diaphragm. If you see how the bias voltage is accomplished to the diaphragm, then you do need the washing procedure. Vacuum is for dust. Water is to wash the dust at left side and right side of the stat...

    Center Channel Help

Hola spatel, I agreed with ttocs on many recommendations that he does, but I have to say this too. Your Motif model is THX certified. The THX cutting frequency is 80Hz. Play 80Hz tone, and you will notice that it is low midrange tone. Make sure that the power plug from the power supply is...

Reviews - what can be trusted?

Hola, I had a tremendous harsh with my CLXs with the famous MDAC made by AudioLab. It is a very good DAC, but my CLXs did not like it. It was jitter. Once I changed this DAC for an Exasound E-32, all the harsh is in the past. Now I have a crystal clear sound from down to zip, with truly...
