Hi all, Site is back up, obviously. We experienced a DDOS attack on the evening of May 7th, 2020. Over 100,000 users on the site.. All From Singapore. HostGator (our hosting company) shut the site down, because we are sharing server space with other customers, and this affects them as well...

the electromotion ESL is very small and IMHO doesn't (and can't) compete with the Ascent. Get a good amp, refurb the panels and get them in a good room and they will amaze you. EM-ESL would be good for a smaller room, though... a good entry level stat.

to my knowlege, ML corporate doesn't track such things, but you should contact them directly to be sure. If not, it could be a possible business venture for someone.

Welcome aboard. I'd think you would want to give the panels a good vacuum and inspect the mylar very closely for dirt, damage, etc. See how they sound after. Showering the panels is an option, but make sure you do some troubleshooting with ML corporate first. They may have you test the...

IMHO, the stock metal jumpers are probably ok. Get some 14g wire and make some and see if you can hear any differences.

a strong amp will make a HUGE difference to your reQuests. I bought a used Pass X250 and the difference compared to the Carver TFM35x was like night and day. Totally different speaker.

panels can last 20+ years, depending on the environment they're in and what kind of care the owner took with them. Look at them closely.. Look at the mylar and see if there is dust/dirt/grime on them. Humidity and smoke are the two things that will shorten a panels lifespan the most.. UV rays...

Hi Jose, Welcome to MLO.. Glad you found us!! the ML ESL's are so intoxicating, right? that open and airy sound and pinpoint imaging is just incredible. You'll get there someday!! I've not heard any of their non-ESL models, but have heard good things.

Thanks for the update... I re-read the entire thread just now to refresh my memory.. Pass Labs is a great combo with ML's. I just loved mine.

Have you vacuumed the panels yet? Look closely at the surface of the mylar and see if it's dusty or has any residue on them... front and back. Sometimes some dust or even a little bug can get in there and cause the panels to have a bit of distortion.

Hi OKA and welcome to the group. Celestion SL700se's were the cream of the crop back in the day.. I remember hearing them (or an earlier variation) and was blown away. Great little speakers. Congrats on the Vantages... another good choice!

They should have came with spikes when new, but if you bought them 2nd hand, the previous owner perhaps didn't include the spikes.

ML did that as a nod to the movie. When we toured the factory in 2007, they mentioned it. Pretty awesome.

Yes, you will see where the wires connect to the panel once you open up the power supply box thingie. Let us know how things turn out. If the panel needs replacement, i'd suggest getting them re-done (both of them). Do some searching on here and you'll see some threads about a guy who can...
