I use Richard Gray Products in my system (240v Substation & 1200) but am thinking about helping all the other appliances and such. Do any of you use anything like this? I have heard of the ones that go in the meter outside as well.

Jason,

I use the industrial version, the CPS-1C240 on each of my 200amp panels.

This is not so much for surge suppression (but that's great) as it was to gain power factor correction for all the motors that run in the home. The AC compressor being the one that benefits the most.

As I note in my HT page on Power, these have made a big difference, and have paid for themselves in five years.

I still marvel at how quiet my AC compressor runs after these were added.

The other features around surge suppression and power noise control are all good, but pale next to the power factor correction.
