Hi,

I wonder who has experiences with the Statement E2? Are they over the top? How do they sound? Is it the best money can buy or just BIG? How much are they? Are they still made? Any chance of getting them second hand?

So many questions. I'd like to know all there is to know...

I did see one on e-bay about 6 or 7 months back he was asking $50K for them.

I know 2 other ML members have them so maybe they will comment on its performance.

Good luck.

You should take an look at system pictures and send a PM to forum member "Barbados." He's been absent for some time, but quite nice to talk with.

Here's a review...

It was my understanding the E2s were no longer availble (although I'm sure if you beggeeeedddd and had $100+k they might work with you :D )

If you had $120k in you pocket and an itch for an E2 system, I'm sure you wouldnt have to beg that hard......

I would say most any speaker over about $10k has to be considered over the top to "normal" people... I would say any speaker over $25k is going to be over the top for 95% of audiophiles, and speakers over $40k are going to take in probably 99% of audiophiles.

So, at $120k over the top ir probably an understatement. I don't there is a "best money can buy" when it comes to SUPER HIGH END SPEAKERS. There are different, sounds, different looks, etc. and I don't think what is "the best" for one person would necessarily be "the best" for the next person...

YMMV.

I wonder with the new panels that the Summit/Vantage incorporate and it allowing them to be smaller than previous models, if this too would apply to the E2's panels?

Would they actualy be smaller? Thoughts anyone??

hehe You are way out of 'normal'.

For 'most' people $1000 on speakers is considered a ludicrous waste of money by them.

That is crazy, but nice rides =D

My dream car alas is a Subaru Legacy Wagon, Spec-B. Alas, not sold in the states (wagon stigma prevents them from being 'cool' here ... sigh)

They actually had E2x!

Actually it is the other way around. They supposedly developed the new Xstat panels for the Statement E2x which then trickled down to the new Summit/Vantage etc.

I don't believe that for one nano-second, but thats the story as I understood it.

Ah, a kindred spirit. Those are damn nice rides. Wagon is so stealthy...
I just stepped out of a Legacy GT wagon that could hang with STI's, and zip past cops unnoticed ;)

Now a statement e2, hard to have that thing unnoticed

I do have to say that unless you also spend at least $150K on the room, it's probably a waste of money. I've yet to see what I consider an ideal e2 setup.

In 'normal' rooms, for well under $50K you can get pretty close to e2 performance. But you do have to build your own line array's and have adequate subwoofers.

Allen,

You need to dream a little bigger than that... it is a DREAM remember! It can be ANYTHING! That is like saying my neighbor next door is my dream girl, vs. the Playmate of the Year around the corner (I guess that would all depend on where you live and who you live by...)

How about this for a dream car... Mercedes E55 AMG Estate?! Elegant, FAST, reliable, exotic, and exclusive! I would prefer a custom one off Ferrari or McLaren if we are REALLY dreaming here though!

You are not supposed to be able to attain the DREAM, and if you do you resight to something higher still! YMMV!

Ahhhhhhhh.... ML Statement e2...

Martin Logans Statement speaker system. The ultimate "What if..."

Their was a pair on sale about a year ago on Audiogon in Zebra wood, whatever that is... for $40K in Southern California. I wish, I had purchased them, I bet I could have got them for $30K - $35K, a U-Haul my son and a couple of days they would have been mine. Oh well Say-Al-Vee...
