I know I got this a few months ago, but I've been so busy that I havent had a chance to post a quick pic of my rack. So here it is!

It's actually a very well built rack... I like it very much! It's not as nice as a Grand Prix Monaco, but it'll do! I think it's a very big upgrade from my $9 Ikea table component stand as my components actually have some room to breathe! I havent filled it with lead shot/metal pellets to make it more dense, but I would assume that doing so will improve the inert nature of the stand.

The stand is modular, which is the main reason why I chose it, and it's easy to buy extra shelves, especially for when I do decide to get a TT. The VTI 404 rack, I feel, is a good value at it's asking price of $230 and I would recommend this audiophile-in-mind rack to anyone looking for a good rack without necessarily breaking the bank.

Two thumbs up!

And thanks to my GF for the Christmas present!!

Joey :D

Nice rack. ;)

I have a Grand Prix Audio Monaco amp stand. It is very nice but not the best choice for someone that likes to change gear often. It uses dampeners under each self that is calibrated to the weight of your component, so changing components means buying new dampeners. Also their carbon fiber self-upgrades are supposed to greatly increase performance but are very expensive ($999.99 and up) and are specifically made for the weight of the component that will be sitting on top of it. My advice is to wait on a Grand Prix audio stand till your happy with the way your system is and your looking for that final tweak.

Thanks Joe!

No worries here... I have absolutely no desire to spend $15k on a rack as of yet.. and probably never will. BUT, that said, I did not notice that you had a GP Monaco stand.... niiiiiice!

Does it actually make a sonically audible difference, Joe?

$15K? A 3 self Monaco was just over $3K last time I checked?

Yes, it does in fact sonically improve the system, and looks good too. :musicnote:

$3K? Wow... that's sort of do-able then!

The one that's $15K is the one with the Formula shelves, 4 shelf GP Monaco... same as the one Mike Lavigne has.

... either way... it improves sonics, eh?

Hmm...

Gotcha,

The base model 4 shelf is MSRP $4750, but then you can add options to it like the carbon fiber self’s for $950 each, apex isolation feet that also have an upgrade for them too. I can easily see how you can get up too $15K with all the options

Good lookin' rack Joey, one of two things I'd suggest, get a amp stand for the "Plinny" or put it on the top shelf ( probably wouldn't look good there though) It is too constricted and not enough air flow where you have it now for Class "A" operation.

What's the paper squares ? under your Cary pre ??

Hehehe.. paper squares are paper for the feet. I dont want it scuffing the shelves as it scuffed the Plinius!

Re the Plinius getting its own amp stand, I agree... but the cool thing is that the bottom shelf is modular and is an amp stand on its own. I should rearrange the rack so I can undo the Plinius' stand from the bottom.

Yes, I could make those racks....but I'm not.

Are you getting the VTI, Jason? The main reason I posted my rack was because you had asked for a pic before and I figured it was time to get my lazy a$$ up and do it.

Joey;)

Yes sir, getting rack and amp stand.

I'm thinking though... I think the all black with silver feet is probably the best combo to get. The only thing I dont like about the VTI rack is that the picture of the silver paint is a little brighter in the factory pics whereas it's a little darker in reality.

Yay pics!

I was wanting to see your new shelves Joey. I am torn between building my own cabinet out of wood, or going with a modular system like this.

I just ordered a VTI amp stand for my new amp. Silver with black shelf. Hopefully it will blend in with my other stuff. Can't go wrong on the price: 75 clams!
