Hi all,

I'm considering various options for my next pair of speakers, and the Vantage and Spire are right at the top of my (very) short list. For those of you that have experience with both, what do you gain by stepping up to the Spire?

From what little I've read, the Spire is breathtakingly transparent, with not quite the same heft in the bass as the Summit (not surprising given only one woofer!). The Vantage has similarly high praise. Would I be correct in thinking that the Spire's bass is better than the Vantage, and if so, how big of an improvement?

I guess the question I'm trying to answer for myself is this: do I rush out and buy the Vantages "soon", or save for a few more months for the Spires? [Obviously the correct answer is to sell my car and get the CLXes! :)]

]Yes, that is the correct answer. The CLX will provide much better gas mileage and resale value!

By all means save your money and get the Spires. Vantages are excellent but Spires are almost like getting a cleaner Summit for much less money. They have the larger Stat panel, the new crossover design developed from the CLX and a larger woofer system that can go much lower than Vantages. Also, Spires are a brand new product and will remain current for years. Vantages have been on the market for years and will be most likely replaced with an improved model within a year to two years. I love mine and would recommend them to anybody that love the ML sound.

If I were shopping in that range right now, I'd also go with the Spire.

Cleaner mid-bass, better panel to woofer integration are all huge pluses.

I'd run them with Sub's anyway, so I find the value equation to be quite good.

But, it's your bucks and your system. Nothing wrong with Vantages either, maybe save some coin for the inevitable upgrade to CLX's ;)
