My son and I were discussing an interesting topic at dinner tonight, "Ultra High Definition Video" (UHDV). Home Theater with incredible bit rates and pixels 7,680 x 4,320 resolution. It takes 16 HD-DVD recorders to capture 18 minutes of UHDV, astounding technology. The special camera used is called the, "The Red One" is used to photograph things in this UHDV. Another especially interesting aspect is that the sound system produced in 22.2...
Check-out this very amazing article about UHDV at Wikipedia, I recommend as it's very good and informative as well:

I guess I'll have to start saving-up for even more ML speakers... ;)

Jeez, no sooner does one get a 7.1 system all tuned out for music and movies, coupled with a 1080 capable display system with HD feeds, than something new comes along.

Good thing my ceiling is already wired for a z-axis speaker, including a power outlet for an electrostat (see, I am indeed a ML true-believer :haha1: )

Heck, every speaker location in a 9 point location (L/C/R, Sr, Sr, SL, SR, SC, ZC) is prewired for speaker level, digital audio (in case I went Meridian DSP route) and power, because I KNEW ML would be in that room for a long time.

And I designed that room 8 years ago

Now I just need to wait for the UHDV PJ's and sources to be real. Sounds like I'll have a few years to save up for that though :D

Jon,

:) You're very forward thinking indeed..., to have desined your HT - 8 yrs. ago, with such audio capabilities... :D How did you know? So as I understand it, you pre-wired your room completely with speaker wire as well as power outlets - dedictated circuits? Where you always planning to acquire more ML speakers down the road for a 10.2 system? Does the Meridian DSP have a 10.2 system requirement?

Your wonderful forward thinking is excellent as well as fascinating to me. Your thooughts... ;)

Jonathan designs his HT room first... then goes to an architect and says... "build a home around it" :haha1:
