I know there are yea & nay sayers here regarding speaker cable choices.
But I am curious what you guys are using?
One more thing anybody running there P/S from a plain jane Iso Transformer, not some expensive exotica?

Thanx,
Bill:eek:

Bill,

Lots of discussion. Do a search for opinions. Having said that, they are only personal preferences.

In the end, there's only one that matters. Yours.

Best advice. Audition before you buy and make sure cables are broken in.

Yes...but ML electrostatic speaker loves silver cables... I use Nordost Blue Heaven... but out there are many great choices. As you said before, it is a matter of taste!:rocker:

Roberto,

I also use silver but there are those that find them too "bright".

Bill, you can click on the system links and they typically list which cables that individual is using.

silver here too... there's a stigma regarding the brightness, but AFAICT it seems bogus or at least based on a very limited data set.

I use 4 nines silver solid core wires sheathed in a very thin teflon insulator and then braided - use these for both analog ICs and speaker cables (recently changed from similar copper based design)... and I love them more than life itself. OK, maybe just slightly less than life itself... but they certainly seem to get the hell out of the way of the music.

Informative site, reasonable prices, great quality... you wanted input, you got input :) http://www.whitezombieaudio.com/

OOpppsss forgot to say: specially with the use with tube amplifiers or class D solid state like Audio Research Company or Bel Canto...perhaps you might like it as some of us do. Silver is right for tubes!...this is my liking, but not necessary yours...

Thanx all you guys

If you poll 100 M-L members, you may get 100 different opinions. There has been more written about cables, cords, and power conditioners in the last decade than some of the main components in your system, speakers included. My rule of thumb has been to audition cables before purchase. One company, aptly named The Cable Company, has a lending library that will allow you sample several cables at the same time for the cost of return shipping. I don't change my primary equipment very often but I have found that the more neutral the cable, the easier the transition to the next new piece. Power conditioners is a different story since these are components that can have a profound effect on the sound of a system. Basically, having gone through PS Audio, Nordost Thors, and a number of others, I have settled on Running Springs Audio Dmitri and Maxim for source components and power amps, respectively. My goal was to have a device that protected my gear from surges and spikes but did not add or subtract to the sound I would get from directly plugging into the wall sockets. These are the most neutral "conditioners" that I have heard but there are other good ones out there the Audience and Shunyata series. It is a matter of how much you want to invest in these components which should be a function of how much you have put into your beloved equipment. Good luck with your poll!
