The ultimate cable elevators!

Just got back from a New England/Canada cruise. I guess Royal Caribbean qualifies as an audiophile cruise line, as I caught them using these "cable elevators" at one of our ports! :ROFL:

It begs the question - I can't work it out - what exactly are they doing / achieving with this?

I think it was actually the hose they use to refill their tanks with "potable" water. I presume the "elevators" were being used to minimize surface contamination when reeled back into the ship. Perhaps somebody with more nautical experience can elaborate.

It was the speaker cable for the Muzak system - they are indeed true audiophiles like us!
