So far I have had to replaced every bass driver amp in my summits, first the front driver amp then the lower bass driver would go, same thing with the other summit. I’m talking months in between each bass amp! Can anyone tell me how I can prevent this from happening again? What can I use or buy. Thanks

Ps: has any other summit owner have this problem?

. No suggestions I can’t believe no one has some kind of idea on what to do.

What do you have them plugged into. Any chance it’s a power surge type of thing?

If UPS is acronym for uninterrupted power supply then maybe the problem , at least in Pakistan, is that UPS do not produce pure sine wave. Even ones that claim to produce pure sine wave produce square waves. Electric fans that run on UPS spoil much more quickly than compared to one’s that run of the electric grid. No need to operate summits using UPS. Use a high quality voltage stabilizer.

My 10 year old Summits have also suffered the same fate. All 4 bass amps had to be replaced about a year ago. They just kept going softer and softer. It shows up very clearly on the frequency curves when I run ARC. FWIW, I power the speakers straight from the mains supply.

Ten years seems a little early, but I wonder if it is due to some electrolytic capacitors failing in these amps. That is the only other reason I can think of beyond power line issues.

This is good to know since I am seeking a pair of Summits, and don't want to buy something I would immediately need to work on.
