Found this interesting new Electrostatic/Hybrid speaker from Siltech, being unveiled at CES. Excerpts from their description... "the upper range is produced by a curved multi-segmented ultra-fast electrostatic driver, with midrange being produced by a 7-inch high-speed driver designed to reduce Doppler and harmonic distortion. Lowermost frequencies are produced by a pair of 16-inch long throw drivers mounted in a proprietary cascade cabinet... overall frequency response is from 18Hz to 38Khz and each complete unit is a staggering 265 lbs."

Interesting design, but definitely LOW WAF! I wonder what the retail will be?

More details and pics at... http://www.siltechcables.com/

For those going to CES, this will be an interesting pair to hear!

Whoaa, that thing is ugly IMO. And you know it's MSRP is probably somewhere in the range of a brand new Z06!

A square foot or so of ESL, One, count 'em one mid-bass driver and, OK, sounds like decent woofers. Probably for way more than a Summit costs (guessing here).

Please, how many of those will they sell? Two?

Now, if was some dude's DIY, I'd give them props, but a comercial product? I guess they are hoping no one test drives a ML before auditioning this.

A square foot or so of ESL...

I guess their use of the ESL is more akin to a ribbon tweeter, so they don't need as much radiating surface.

Now, if they only offered a Rotary Bubinga finish, THAT would improve WAF (a smidgeon). :D
