Hi:

What receiver would you recommend for 2 Motion 12s+ Motion 8. If the receiver is not 4 ohms..does that equate to poor sound quality?

Heard these paired with a Denon 2112(@ 90 watts- 6/8 ohms) and a Pioneer RX 52 (@ 6/8 ohms 110 watts per ch). Neither are 4 ohms but music sounded much clearer on the Pioneer. Could it just have been the settings were off on the denon?

I am looking for a receiver that can handle a 5.1 motion set and have the MLs perform at their best. I'd prefer a 4 ohm receiver but am open to preouts(not sure what to look for/how to hook this part up). I saw the onkyo 809 - is this the only sub 800 solution-can really only afford 500 but I know that's unrealistic. Thanks for your time.

there is no such thing as a 4 ohm reciever, just an impedance load that an amp is rated to drive. Do not worry, the Motion products are designed to be fairly easy overall. the whole impedance thing, especially with this end of our line is overworried. When we finish product, we use an old Sony stereo reciever that was $200 10 years ago to check how friendly things are and that thing has not been destroyed. Buy what sounds best in a good reciever and don't worry so much on the impedance issue. There is so much to how a speaker is easy or hard to drive that one single number can not express it. I just read a review on a popular inexpensive speaker whose impedance curve varied between 3.7 ohm to 33 ohm and had a phase angle at a low frequency that would be a problem for inexpensive amps to run yet the company had it rated as an 8 ohm product. your ears will tell you what you need to know.
