Warmed up my equipment this afternoon and hit the play button on the CDP remote and no sound out of my right CLS.

I checked speaker wires all connections fine.
There is sound comming from the sub on the right side connected to that power amp so I tried the speaker wires from the sub on the CLS, nothing. Changed power cords, nothing. Switched the outlet for power, nothing. A run of speaker wire from the right amp to the left speaker and it worked fine so it is definitely not amplification.

The panels are only 1 1/2 years old.

Everything worked fine last night before turning it off.

I am on my way to my work shop for tools to open the circuitry box on the back of the CLS to see if there is anything obvious.

Any ideas for something I am overlooking?

All fixed.
I took off the cover of the electronics box and the red lead to the back of the binding posts was disconnected. The nut that holds is in place was loosened up to about a 1/4" space with the wire not near the threaded stud.

I guess that says something for the amount of vibration set into motion by the panel and subs.

I never would have guessed it could have been that. I know I checked and tightened them up when I put new panels in but the right frequency could make that happen.

Time for a glass of wine and music again.

The panels create a lot of vibrations. Its not a uncomon issue to have the nuts come loose there. I had Jim Power go through my x over and both speakers internal posts were loose. I know a few who bypass them. I have heard it makes a difference.

I had the wiring loosen up again on the binding post and decided it was time to replace them. I had used Eichmann products in the past so I chose to try their Cable Pod binding posts.

They are good build quality and hold the spades on my speaker cables very well. The Cable Pods compress the spades to the metal connection when tightened but don't twist the spade at all.

I also tried a banana plug in them and they fit tight enough it was a two handed install and removal. If I were to replace speaker cables I would probably go with the banana plug as I had the feeling it might be a better connection than the spades.

They are a solder connection on the speaker side and it was a bit of a challenge to hold everything in place with the short wires in the electronics box but after a couple of burns from the iron it all worked out fine.

The picture of the spades is what I cut off inside the box. That is how distorted they were when I loosened the brass nuts holding them. The size of the nut seems drastically out of proportion with the spade size and could not have held them very well which is why I had the problem I did.

Based on what I found with those connection I would suggest any of you that have purchased speakers that were not new might take a look at all of your wiring closely to be sure they don't look like mine did.

I can't say I heard any difference but there is peace of mind knowing they won't losen up again.

Very nice. I have thought of going direct to the X-over board. I have heard rumors of big improvement. I just haven't had the guts yet!
