Quick Question about receivers/ switchers

Can you lose sound quality by running thru a receiver? I am looking at a midwright Sony 9000es and would ilink it thru my Pioneer elite. Future plans are to then send them to Pass labs amp to ML (none of these I have purchased yet- darn engagement ring ). Thanks all!

Are you sure that the Sony ilink and the Pioneer ilink can talk to each other? Most of the companies use proprietary systems for linking their DVD players to their receivers...

I am pretty sure that they can... read a review recently that said the Pioneer (D47?) SACD player worked great with the Sony and that the reciever display even accurately identified the player. How ever I am not sure about DVD-A and the Sony. I hear it is only a software upgrade away though!
