I have a friend that just bought a used pair of SL3's. I was wondering (as he was) if there is a way of knowing if the panels have been changed? He said there is a serial number on the panel and wanted to know if it was possible to use this as a verification method?

I am also curious to know if the serial number on the stators are of significance concerning this question.

Thank you

I just forwarded this to him and he said the number on the panel is the same as on the woofer section.

Does this mean they were never changed or does this only mean that the number must be the same for a chnge? Does that make sense as a question? In other words, when changing panels, do the serial numbers always match?

If the panels are 700 series they are replacement panels.

Hola...what it means is that they are the original panels...the only change is, that now the look of the panel is all clear, with clear spars, not black, the size and the performance is the as the originals. Happy listening, Roberto.

CAP does the 700 series number apply to ALL replacement panels?
