I am in the midst of buying my first set of MLs after listening to a friend's settup

before taking the dive on a significant investment, i would greatly appreciate feedback on the below questions.. many of you have way more knowledge than i do when it comes to making the decisions i am facing, so i greatly respect any and all comments. As a start, the room occupying all this equipment is 12 by 19. The room will be used mainly as a theater. i am a big movie buff and greatly enjoy listening to a wonderfully setup room.

questions.
1. vantage or vista? price is not so much an issue
2. depth i or descent i? price is not so much an issue
3. motif or stage? price is not so much an issue
4. recommended power source (amp)? price is not so much an issue
5. is pricing for the equipment relatively consistent out there and where is the best place to buy what i am looking for? there is an authorized dealer in my the area, but they do not have a good reputation for service..

i appreciate any and all remarks

1. vantage or vista? price is not so much an issue

Between the two: Vantage. The powered woofer will give you better bass and make it easier on your chosen amplifier to power the panel. But if price really isn't an issue, you should consider the Spire. It is almost as good as the Summit, but at a lower price.

2. depth i or descent i? price is not so much an issue

Descent i. It is simply the best sub Martin Logan has to offer and if you want the best home theater experience from your MLs, you shouldn't skimp on the sub or or the center channel.

3. motif or stage? price is not so much an issue

Stage. Again, it is their best center channel, and you don't want to skimp on that speaker since is is the most important speaker for home theater sound.

4. recommended power source (amp)? price is not so much an issue

My recommendation is the Sanders Sound ESL amplifier, or better yet, their ESL monoblocs (which is what I use). But I also highly recommend Sunfire gear for home theater uses. Their 400 wpc times five or seven channel amplifiers are great and match well with Martin Logans. I use these amps on my center and surround channels.

5. is pricing for the equipment relatively consistent out there and where is the best place to buy what i am looking for? there is an authorized dealer in my the area, but they do not have a good reputation for service..

Pricing should be relatively consistent, although you might be able to find some deals on some demo or discontinued gear. I can't help you with a local source because I don't know your area. I suggest you spend lots of time reading previous posts on this forum as a lot of the topics you bring up have been discussed much before. Good luck with it.

If money is not an issue, Rich has hit everything on the head. I use Sunfire gear with Vistas and a Motif with great results, what you are talking about would be quite a cut above (Vantage, desent i, stage, and Sanders ). Most of what you are looking for can be found on audiogon for very enticing prices...more bang for your buck.

If price is not an issue just send me a blank check. I'll pick everything out for you and come down there myself and install it for you. I'm here to help!:D

Rich's recommendations are actually quite good, but the point I'm trying to make above is that only you and your ears should be signing the check. Not that you should sign a check with your ear, but if you do please video tape it so we call all watch it on UTube.

With a depth or descent i, good question. Tonepub shipped his Summits and kept the Spire due to his descent i working well in "his" setup. I recall another member demoing the vista and vantage in his "own" room and preferring the vistas. As wiser members have said and will continue to say, "let your ears decide".
