I just got back from Germany (trade show in Cologne) yesterday. While coming back from a restaurant a couple of nights ago, i walked by a stereo shop... On one side they had normal stuff like B&W, KEF, and Canton speakers (which are quite nice for a mid fi speaker).

On the left side I saw these massive, chrome plated speakers that were about 6' tall. Also I saw a huge turntable that looked very wicked...

Does anyone know what brands / models these puppies were??? Is that a Clearaudio Turntable???

Thanks!
gordon

The speakers are the KEF Muon's.

The turntable I'm going to have to cogitate over for a bit...

holy smokes - the KEF speakers are $140,000 and they only made 100 pairs! I guess I feel lucky having seen a pair in person (even if it was through the window!). I wonder if they sound as cool as they look.....

We (a few of us here) heard them at RMAF last year. I don't think I hated them as much as Dave, but they were way down on my list. Many, many systems sounded much better in my opinion, but then again, they were WAY too big for the room they were in. (In fact they look bigger than the ones you had in your picture now that I look closer).

I think Trunpet Doug may be right about the turntable being a Transrotor. Where's Justin when we need him, he's seen quite a few Transrotors at various shows. I don't believe it's a Vyger based upon a few of those I've seen. It's not a Clearaudio either. Yup, I'm thinking Transrotor.

He's sitting here baffled - certainly enough chrome for a Transrotor - but that pic really does leave a bit to be desired...

Might be worth a look on the Transrotor website to see - no time at the mo...

I would think you would need a room 2 to 3 times the size of the one pictured. Give those babies some room. I would enjoy hearing that.

Doug - out
