I went to Camden Yards yesterday for the Home Opener of the Baltimore Orioles. They played the Detrooit Tigers, and won 6-2. It was a really good game, and the crowd was great, even it it was a little chilly (about 54°). I just love the architecture of Camden Yards. It's built to look like an old park, inspired by the likes of Wrigley and Candlestick, but it's a modern park (built 16 years ago), so it's got modern construction--cantilevered decks--meaning almost every seat is an unobstructed view, because there are no support columns anywhere.
I had seats in the first terrace, right behind First Base. I had a really good hotdog, a couple cups of "Natty Bo" (National Bohemian,a "regional" beer brewed withing sight of the park) and a couple REALLY yummy salted pretzels.
Cal Ripken threw out the ceremonial first pitch. I had a really fun time. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I do love a good game. Cabrera pitched a pretty good game, and Millar slugged a homerun as the first batter in the third inning. I'm definitely going to go to more games later in the season--when it gets warmer...
