I recently picked up a pair of the lx16 monitors and have them in a 2.1 system with a rel t5 and arc vsi60. I'm interested in what others think of these speakers and if there are any reviews

What do _you_ think of them? That's the most important thing after all.

From what I've read, they are impressive little bookshelfs, proudly baring the Martin Logan name and are the basis of the new motion 20 and motion 40s.

Agreed 100% with Camflan. Listen to the voices, listen carefully how detailed and clean are them. Try to listen to the combo music, or soloist. Make for us, your own review, tell us what do you like and do not from them, if there is any that you do not. I was very impressed with them. I do like a lot all ML product, in a general way of speaking. Happy listening.

well, I have about 300 hours of playing time on them and my perception is the more I listen to them the better they sound! Well recorded/engineered Vocal track recordings like those of Ani Difranco provide incredible stage imaging and when the lights are low I am transported to a live venue with the voices "appearing" in the room ( I guess thats the disappearing speaker phenomena I read about...). It took me quite a while to get them positioned in my room to where I feel the sound is the best. The piano work of Tsuyoshi Yamamoto (one of my favorite artists!) comes through with very clean/articulate note attach and sustain. Most of my listening is acoustic "coffee" house (Sexton, Difranco, JT, LaMontagne, ....) and jazz (Yamamoto, Desmond, Davis, Trane, The Count!, Grappelli,Evans, Haden!!, ect) of which I am very pleased with the performance of these speakers. Where I am not as positive on are the more dynamic classical pieces like Beethoveen's Pastoral Symphony No 6, and Coplands Appalachian Spring; these sound a bit "busy" to my ears and feel a little compressed (not as open or airy?) as my full range Polk LS90's.
On the real positive side of things, listening to these speakers really has focused me on "listening" and I feel I am now hearing the difference between bad engineered/recorded tracks and great ones!.

Thanks peha. As you do know, symphomic music is very difficult for any speaker, even to my beloved CLXs. Many of this problem is due to the recording. Too many instruments at the same time, makes very difficult to reproduce the size of the instruments with the right tonal balance and timbre. Sometimes the stage is another problem too. But, those little speakers are something! Wait to have them with more break in period... the new motion tweeter is outstanding. Listen how enjoyable is to listen to the music through them. How easy is to get what it is happening to the the musician(s) and the fun that they are having. Another thing that I like is the way that they reproduce the female voice. Almost free of cabinet coloration. I really do like them a lot too. Happy listening.
