Your first post on this thread is clear, but the reason you do not get much response to your posts is that we have trouble making sense of what you are trying to say, hence discussion with you is very difficult at best, and often impossible. I have figured out that when you say "Xfourm" you mean "transformer", but personally I do not understand most of your posts (and I'm not a technical ignoramus).

All ML panels are glued the ENTIRE length of the sides (and top and bottom) under pressure. If your panels have delaminated on the sides, then they need to be replaced!

Plus, what Bernard said . . . . . . . .

IIRC the Mylar is glued to the back stator and it has a 1/4 inch x 1/16 inch foam strip to make the space up for the spars. Then there is another foam piece taped to the front stator. They are not glued together at the sides. They just compress when you slide them in place. Now That being said I have not taken my CLS apart but that has been the norm with the Quest panels. I will try and get some pics of the Quest. ( I will not fiddle with my CLS.:D, If it works don't mess with it)

What are you supporting them with if your running them out of the frame ? I would think they would buss as they are looses on the sides.

Chris, except fpr the original CLS panel, the spacers (or spars) do not come to the sides, and the mylar is stretched across the front of the spacers. There is a strip of foam in the side edges, and maybe wood strips too (I can't remember, I know there's wood at the top and bottom) but the whole shebang is laminated together or the mylar would creep. Starting with the Summit, the membrane stretching is done by a computer controlled machine (and it's tighter), but before that, it was all done by hand.

FWIW, the "new" jig did not come on line untill second quarter of 2007, per what we were told / saw while on tour last June.

that Right

OK , HOW ABOUT SOME PICS ! ........... Was this test done witha SPL meter and test tones?

Actually the more rigid you can make the stators the better as you will have less panel resonance. The Mylar is the only thing that is excited and is moving. The stators should stay firm. If they are flexing and flopping you will get bad distortion and poor dispersion. That being said you may gain a few db with out the frame but is it real music?

As for the assembly , I do not know if you were privy to the panel assembly room. I was given leeway, I seen exactly how its done and the way they stretch and assemble them. It isn't done by machine totally. Actually it is very hands on. They do have a vacuumed press that finalizes the process but the Mylar is already stretched and applied. That is just for the final bonding of the top and bottom of the panel.

What good is this thred without facts ? You speak in Jiberish and we are supposed to understand you. If you have trouble with the English language tell us so we can relate better or else send us what your on so we can enjoy too. ;) What good does a free air panel give you ? Again I ask HOW DID YOU SUPPORT THIS TO GET RESULTS AND LISTEN????
