I was in Montreal this evening, but had to miss the show as I too am sick; I did not think I could take the walking around 13 floors at the Sheraton.
I was at the show on Friday and it was very good. So much stuff out there but I can say that not all of it is worth the cost!
I spent about 2 hours in a room that had the new Cambridge Audio 840E and 840W pre/Power with the ML Vantage I believe. It was amazing and attracted a lot of attention from very many visitors. The store that was representing this was Brosseau Electronique and was selling the complete series including the 840C CD player for 9995$ I really liked the new Cambridge models as they are very good for the price and were very well received from the general public.
There were other rooms that included Martin Logan and one had an older model but I could not see which one. It also seemed to attract a lot of attention.
Over all the show was wonderful and it showed me that even though some items were way over priced, I am proud of what I own and have finally reached a point where everything sounds really good. When I do upgrade in the future at least now I will know in which direction. Our speakers truely are wonderful and very popular and as I mentioned, not all gear that is priced in a higher bracket sounded good to me and others also mentioned this. I have about 8000$ worth and some items at 40000$ did not sound much better! Of course the opposite is also true but the margin is not considered day or night maybe 10%. Is it worth a second mortgage? No!
