Hi all,

Since auditioning the ml vantage m convinced they(ML) are the speaker for me.Either be going for vantage or ethos or theos...
We are designing a new house and was going to use the ML in a hifi set up as we were also going to have a seperate HT room, but we now have reconfigured the house and got rid of the HT room thus saving around $30,000.
We will be combining the HT and hifi in one room(family), with motorised screen coming down when watching movies.

My first question is if i go for the vantage or ethos, do i really need a seperate sub for movies or can i redirect the LFE to the front speakers as they have their own powered sub.Woub that be enough or will i really be missing low frequencies in movies..

Secondly, does anybody use a hi end receiver such as the likes of yamaha z11m or denon or arcam avr 600 with the ML speakers and if yes do they do the speaker justice?Alternatively please feel free to recommend different brands/combinations.

sincerely yours john

The Vantages will benefit from a sub or subs. Jl 112 mates well. Please note while ml speakers are fantastic they are meant to be listened too in a defined space. Not really good for parties. The new versions have larger sweet spots but still not very large

I use a good prepro (integra 80.2 but demon is also quite good. I use outlaw for center and surrounds and Bryston for my Vantages.

The ml electrostatics require good amps. Not sure if those in receivers can properly drive them.

Good luck!

I think a receiver would get you by in the short term but a separate high current amp will really make them sing; make sure whatever receiver you get has pre amp outputs so you can add an amp down the road or at least have that option. I agree with above post that the JL subs mate well with ML speakers and I also used a F112 with my previous speakers (Vista) and my current speaker (CLS IIz).

Does this mean that you now have $30,000 or more to spend on your audio/HT purchase ? If so, you should forget the receiver and get a good amp.

You may want to consider starting with the best 2-channel system you can afford, then building the HT when funds permit.

hi guys and thanks for the replies..
All things consiredered i will go for a processor with 2 good monoblocks for front speakers and than a lesser powerful 3 ch amp for the rest.
I think the ML ethos deserve a bit better than a receiver..
unfortunately for me, not having a HT room does not mean i can spend another $30,000 on my hifi gear.I wish i could..The block is very difficult to built on, but worth it in the end.the reason i stayed away from HT room, is that we only use the current one we have once a week so a bit of a waste of money,so i d rather have really good gear in ione room that does it all that 2 room with mediocre eqipment.
thanks again guys..
