I´m a newbie to this gorgeous club and I have a million questions though owning my second hand CLSs since around 1999 (which are expected to be number I series with consecutive s/n of 2978 and 2979). These babies have already their second panels installed by the previous owner (the ones with the gap in between horizontal and vertical panel lines) and I do have the replaced panels as spare units.

I am awaiting a used Naim CDi-player to participate in the setup.
Does anyone have experiences combining the typical Naim "flat earth"-sound with the holographic CLS and tube amp sound?

Heard several newer Naim CDP a few weeks ago... and I will tell you that even their lowest model was very good... just a few hundred $ above the popular Rega Apollo, but to my ears, much much better in terms of overall coherence and palpability.

Thanks for your reply, confirming me in my decision to a turntable-like sounding CDP. Since I´ve been repelling from analog audio I´be been waiting for an analog-sound approach from a manufactorer and I hope it will work. I´ve even bought a Sony Playstation awaiting to be made ready as a near analog-source, but I fear there´s so much rumour about it that it´s almost obvious more voodoo than facts.

The Naim CD5 is a fantastic player for the dollar....! Is it analog? Of course not! But it is darned good and makes for some great music. I actually preferred it over the MF A5 series cdplayer, the Ayre C-5, the Rotel RCD-1072 and the Rega Planet 2000.
