I'm thinking about getting a descent to add to my 2ch/HT setup. I have Odysseys as mains. I'm not really sure on how to hook up the descent for 2 ch listening. For HT, I'll just use the LFE input.

My 2 ch setup consists of Theta Transport to Benchmark DAC-1, to Sunfire Cinema Grand to Odysseys.

Any ideas? I've searched the forum and am a little confused. It seems that the Descent i has line outs but the regular descent doesn't.

If your preamp does not have two preamp output connections, I would use a "Y" connector at the preamp out before the DAC and one run one as you do now and the other to the Decent.

I have a Depth and not the Decent but I believe they are similar as to connections. You should have a "line-in" as well as a LFE connection on the Decent. Just connect the cable from your preamp out to the line in. You can have both connected. This is how I have mine without any problems. Works great! :D

Hi Jeff,

Right now I'm not using my pre/ processor for 2 channel listening. I eventually want to get a nice tube pre but that's not in the budget yet.

The Sunfire has 2 inputs for each channel, balanced and single ended. For HT, I go into the Sunfire balanced out of the processor. For 2 channel, I'm not connected to the processor at all. I just go out of the dac into the amp, single ended.

I don't know if I'm making myself clear.

Would the best way to connect the sub be to go out of the dac, which has balanced and single ended outs. Single ended to the sub and balanced to the Sunfire? If I do that, won't the bass be redundant in the sub and mains? Would that be bad?
