I am attempting to get an original Abyss subwoofer working. Since I have an integrated amp without a pre-amp out, I am using the two-channel method, using speaker wire from the terminals of the ESLs to the posts on the Abyss.
The problem is that when the subwoofer is hooked up, the sound in the main speakers is distorted. The same result occurred in my friend's system ( which consists of some sort of receiver and Martin-Logan Purity speakers).
When receiving the Abyss, it was missing the power cord, so I pulled one from a stash in the basement. Having said that, it's a 3-wire cord, and it looks like the Abyss needs a two-wire power cord. Could that be the root cause of the noise.... some type of ground issue?
