Nice contentious sounding post but a lot of views on the aesthetics have already been put forward. I tried to convince myself I liked it for a while. Alas, it isn't a patch on the original CLS - simplicity in itself and just A ranking great looking.

It looks like it's been cobbled together - it is definately not "of a piece". If I was ML, I would withdraw it and think again.

There's a chance I am wrong and it is great, but I doubt it. All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the best. This speaker simply doesn't look simple. More like cobbled together in the constructional sense.

I think we ourselves have made more scathing comments here on this website!

I personally don't care for the looks - only how they sound, but it would have been nice to have an "airframe" design.

I think they look great in red; my wife agrees with me.

I think we have become too tied-in to boxy-looking speakers, including the CLS and the Summits. Think of the CLX as more like a sculpture, which would make it more pleasing to the eye in a domestic situation. I commend ML for breaking with convention.

A friend of mine heard them in Munich (a CLS owner) and he said they were out of this world good.

Tom's going there in about a week, right? I'm jealous, I can't get out there till the end of the month, can't wait!!
