Thanks for sharing; that was real touching. Too bad he couldn't pass on his passion of orchestra music to his family.

Very touching. I hope he does pass them along to someone who will appreciate the music.

As an aside, my father in law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer the same year I met my wife, back in 1971. He was a farmer who would go to the fields on his tractor with a couple of six pacs, come back to the farm house to eat and go back out with a couple more six pacs. He didn't want anything to do with hospitals and chose to not treat the cancer. When his health started failing a few years ago, at age 87, his doctor told him he had pancreatic cancer. He did finally die, but from pneumonia.

great story. I'm sure he's gotten lots of offers to take the collection off his hands.

Yes. I had emailed him privately (offering condolences and the support of our Tampa Bay Listening Society) and he replied today that he's had a heartwarming response, including a number of local audiophiles interested in eventually buying his collection. I also forwarded him the link to watch the documentary film of the Audiophile Club of Athens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs1aUws0Lrs for those that may not have seen it previously).

I hope his music will continue to bring him some joy and comfort as he battles this dread disease.

Seems like a true, gentle man. You can see it in his eyes and the way he carries his body. I wish him well.
