What product do you recommand to clean CD's with?
I use a product called Brillianize ( brillianize.com ) which is an anti-static cleaner & mild polish & glaze used by the plastics industry, but it's also commonly found at motorcycle dealers. I also use it to clean the outside of my helmet's face shield. Bugs usually roll off instead of sticking!
For CDs & DVDs that have slight to moderate scratches, I use Meguiar's ScratchX, which is available at autoparts stores, then I follow with the Brillianize. I polish/clean with a very soft cotton rag, in a circular motion until the disc is clean.
If you do try Brillianize, SHAKE WELL BEFORE EACH USE!

Meguiars ScratchX...really? I have a tube of that in the garage, I'll have to try that on a few less desirable CD's first a see how that does.

Thanks Tube60!

With the method I've described, I've got CDs & DVDs that the machine spat back out with a Are you kidding!? message on the display panel, to play like they're brand new. But yeah, try an undesirable disc first, because I don't like having the dogs set on me!:D

A long time ago, one of Stereophile's writers, Sam Tellig, tried using ArmorAll on his cds. He was very happy with the results and he reported that his treatment made them more playable. Several months passed and he discovered that his "better-sounding" cds wouldn't play at all. Apparently, the treatment that he used somehow made several of the layers on his cds deteriorate. Warning to the wise: be very careful about putting stuff on cds that was not meant for cds. I'd use one of the commercial treatments made by a reputable firm.

Disclaimer: I have not used any of these myself, but have read many threads on them over at the Asylum: L'Art du Son & Shine Ola. I would do some searches on these products and read about them yourself and go from there.

Very true. But my Brillianize recommendation comes from many years of use with no problems whatsoever. I haven't tried the specific cleaning products though, and one of these days I'll have to try them.
