I just acquired a pair of unfinished cherry wood CLS frames from a fellow MLOC member (thanks). I'm looking forward to making these shine and show off the grain and color. I'll probably give them a light stain to match the ML Dark Cherry like the trim on the rest of my speakers.

I know I can get new panels from ML. However, the challenge will be to find a good pair of electronics for them. I'm not too concerned about the metal box since I can easily make that. I already spoke with Jim Powers to see if they were available but no luck there. I should have asked him if he has a schematic available.

Can the electronics be made from a kit? Or does anyone have the schematic and instructions to make the CLS electronics? I would gladly commission someone to make them for me. I has to be easier than a tube amp.

My other option and more likely to happen is to wait for an inexpensive or low grade pair of CLS to show up on the 'Gon or Ebay and cannibilize the parts from it. Anyone happen to have some CLS electronics sitting around?

Are you building an additional room on your house??? Where the heck are you gonna put those??? (For those who don't know, Craig already has about 3-4 setups!) Feel free to store a setup or two at my place!

Summits to the HT system, CLS for the 2 channel system, Aeon i's in the bedroom and my office system stays as is. But then who knows where anything will be once the music stops.;)

good luck

The best I can do is photograph the insides for you. I guess things have changed. The patent on the transformers must have run out. Is there no enterprising engineer out there who wants to sell new transformers for existing CLS owners? There must be a market for it:rocker:

Glad to hear you finally got a hold of the frames. I am sure with your business connections you must know somebody that could do the electronics construction. You are welcome to bring some one over and we can open up one the boxes on my CLS's and they can work our what ever details needed.

ML may have some rare spare boards left but they usually fix yours as there is not much to fix. The transformers are few and far too.

There is a fellow who has done upgrades to these but I do not know if he could build a complete X over with a transformer too.

Craig, this could be done.

The biggest challenge will be to have a diaphragm polarizing HV source with enough juice for that big a panel. Much of the DIY supplier systems are for much smaller panels.

The audio step up transformer should be easy, see this thread on transformer updates.

There are schematics for various editions of the CLS floating about. Some are even posted in this board IIRC.
