Breaking in Maple Vistas

Hi All,

Where is everybody?

Received my mail order sweetheart on Wednesday in the form of a pair of Maple Vistas. She was virgin and kind of shy at first, but I took it easy on her and let her lose her inhibitions with the Pioneer Elite. Now shes starting to make even this old dog blush! You see, now she invited a few of her friends over to play. The first friend is Cary SLP-98p. And I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to finish paying off her other friend, Ayre V-5xe...

It's a sick world and I'm a happy man...

Congratulations on your upgrades. What are your thoughts on the Ayre V5-Xe? Does it have enough juice to get everything out of the Vistas? Did you listen to anything else before selecting it? The Ayre V1-Xe is the best solid state amp that I have heard so far in my short amp selection journey, and the V5 should be 70% of the way there.

I'm new to this high end audio journey and made my selections based mostly on what I've learned from this site.

Starting off with a pair of montage speakers and a Dynamo sub (last Oct.) I caught a glimpse at some of the things that I was reading about. Just that little electrostatic section at the top of the Montage was enough to make me lust for good size Xstat speaker.

I gave my old (3 months) system to my mom for Christmas and started over with a pair of ML Vistas with a gorgeous maple veneer. Shout out to John at Premiere-Audio for a great deal and excellent customer service.

Monday I'll make a final payment to the MLC's very own Joey_V for his former pride and joy the Cary SLP-98P. Joey, Thanks for working with me on this and I'm sure that SLP has some good mojo on it!

As far as the Ayre V-5xe, John at Preniere-Audio is selling me his demo that he was using to demo Vistas, Vantages and Summits.

I've spent many hours reading everything I could on the various components for my new audio rig. Budget limits me to a scaled back version of a true audiophiles dream system.

I hope to get that magic synergy when I put all this together... we'll see...
