October's HFN just this minute came through the door. In it, Ken Kesler reports on http://audiophilewiki.org/, which is sponsored by PS Audio.

It is in the early stages, but it does not yet have a Martin Logan entry. Will someone better qualified to do it than me oblidge and add an informative entry, covering ML history from past to present?

Maybe we could run a draft on these pages, and when everyone is happy, make it the official entry. Until then, a short summary would suffice, looking at the other entries.

I'd really like to see this Wiki turn into something really useful... as I am sure we all would. Let's try and make the ML entry as good as possible!

Comments anyone? Especially forum moderators?

Justin

Let's run through some drafts in this thread, then one of us can post to the Wiki.

based on the guidelines we will probably spend much of our time collecting and vetting the references.

Of course, the MLOC will often be cited as a source, because hey, we're definitive (speaker humor there) ;)

I know, Tom, I've just been looking at that. It isn't very good, though. However, it does show that Sanders WAS involved with ML and DID come up with the curvilinear design...

I reckon we could do better... with the resource we have on tap... of course, when done, we could update both Wikis, or just leave the audiophile one as superior... running the risk of it being copied into the main one.

It is an effort, though, and I honestly don't have enough information to make a start.

ML was founded by Gayle Sanders, not Roger Sanders (who founded Innersound).

I know it's been mentioned in some threads that Roger Sanders was also involved with ML, but I don't believe that's correct.

More fool me... you are totally right, of course, for some reason I got a bit confused when reading it... thanks for the correction.

Actually, in my (poor) defence, it's pretty unfortunate these guys have the same sirname... it is just asking for trouble!

No problem, but this is exactly why citations from reliable sources are required to support Wiki entries.

So everyone should be prepared for a lot of questioning of where they got certain info from, and whether it can be corroborated.

Fairly reliable source number two:D, the 1st being Wiki...

Ultimately, is the job one of collation of web based articles, magazine article information, and possibly some references to this site e.g. the MLOC history pages, which need updating (last time I looked)?

It probably is - but if anyone has any unpublished info that can be verified by more than one person that would be cool.

Also, we might be able to interest ML themselves, just by e-mailing one of the employees... some of you have made contacts there - how about it?

I'd like to see a bit more of a response to this thread. We should take a bit of pride in knocking up something for it, I reckon. Ken Kessler and PS Audio are backing it, and as it grows it'll be a good resource, but only with input from people like us.

I can proof read, I fink!:D And add some stuff, maybe. If we do manage to do something, it'd be cool to ADD VALUE, rather than repeat what's already in the two quoted references thus far...

Wiki entries have pics, too, so any ML visit pics taken by club members might be worth incorporating (hint, hint). Together with any facts people might know about ML that they haven't seen published (hint, hint).
