Hey all and Happy New Year!!!!

I'm new here on the forum and I needed some help before I setup my system.

I have a Tannoy TS12 Sub that I want to add to a stereo setup consisting of:

Aerius I's
Rogue Audio Metis PreAmp
PS Audio HCA-2 Amp
Cambridge Audio Azur 840C
Logitech Transporter DAC/Digital Player

Now the Rogue has two sets of outputs (Variable and Fixed outs), but I'm not sure which would run to sub and which to the amp...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I will be installing all of the equipment tomorrow so I should have my system listed up on the forums by Saturday...

Thanks
Tom

Hello Tom and Welcome.
I don't believe either amp or sub should be connected to the fixed outs. According to Rogue's website, the fixed are used for tape recording.
If you connect fixed to the amp, the full signal of the Logitech will be sent to the amp and to the speakers...VERY LOUD! Because the signal doesn't go thru the volume control.
If you connect fixed to sub, you can adjust the volume of the sub, but when you change volume on the Rogue the sub volume will not change.
I think you'll need a "T" adapter or "T" cable to split the variable out from the Rogue to the amp and sub.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Thanks Mike for the reply...

Wouldn't using a adapter degrade the signal going to the amp and sub, or will it be a pure pass through?

Well, you can ask 5 different guys on this board and get 6 different answers on that one.
My take is that it's never ideal to add a connector or cable to the signal path, but especially in the case of your sub I think you'll be OK. I really doubt I'd hear a difference, but I always hesitate to tell others what they'll hear. Besides, I don't think you have much of a choice on this one.

I'll give the Aerius's a try without it, but since I listen to mostly rock and trance/techno I have a feeling I might need the extra lows...

Thanks again for your help...

Regards
Tom
