I have just purchased a new Depth I and have been trying to tune it to my room with the other ML’s in the room. As of last night I am now more confused about the sound of my Clarity’s and Cinema I. My questions for the forum are; how do you know what db levels to place each of the speakers in the room? My fronts and center now sound a lot crisper (if that makes any sense) with the Depth I. Also my fronts now seem to be overpowering my center. It’s like I hear more of what is going on around me instead of what people are saying, why is that? Is what I’m hearing a good thing or bad thing? My fronts use to have more bass before the sub came into play so what is the best way to set up a room like mine? My room is 21’ by 21’ with a vaulted ceiling of up to 15’ in the peak. I have been reading the forums and trying different ways of toeing in the fronts and am still unsure if it is right. My fronts and center are close to 9’ away from the listening area, is this ok? I received great advice from people that have looked at my setup from this sight about purchasing the mini traps to help out the room and I plan on doing so when I get the money. So since I am a newbie at this and want to learn how and not have to pay Tweeter to come to the house to set up the room, I am asking for help.

I found the best way to set HT levels of each speaker is with a Rad Shack Meter. The Yamaha auto setup "should" work correctly, but you can confirm with a Rad Shack.

For the Sub, try placing it in the center of the mains, on the side walls, behind he couch, next to the couch, etc. Each room will be different so you need to try different locations.

For Toe-In, there have been many threads here on it. Start with them perfectly horizontal to your seat and toe them in a little bit at a time until you find the way "YOU" like them. When you like them, they are setup right. Also, do not forget about tilt (forward and back).

Thank you for your help!

I have tried it behind the couch and it sounds better where it is now then there. So when I get home I will move it to the center of the mains and give that a try. Also, I will look at Radio Shack for that meter.
