A few days ago I received a new sey of speaker cables and decided that it was time to clean all of the connections. Using Flitz I set about the task, very boring indeed as I could not listen while I had the system apart. Thankfully I donot have a bunch of cables. 5 Power cords, 1 set of interconnects and 2 pairs of speaker cables.

All of the speaker connections on the Amp and speakers were also cleaned.

The results were not suttle The veils were removed and the sound improved across the board. I highly recommend this inexpensive tweek to all, you will not be disapointed, It also helped me organize the wires.

I know there are quite a few of us here that take the time either once or twice a year to tear apart our entire system to clean and treat all connections. Improvements are always noted by all. Great point to bring up again for everyone.

Related Question: Am I making this up in my twisted mind, or do they make a special tool to clean the pins in an XLR socket? I swear I saw one in a music/pro-audio related web site but I can't for the life of me find anything like it!?!

I am sure that someone makes an overpriced xlr socket cleaner, If not now I am sure that Machina Dynamica will come out with a 4 pack for about $30.00

Until they do you can use the q tip stem it was a nice tight fit. I didnt use any cleaner on the sockets just the stem about 4 times they came out clean.

Thanks for the reminder, and thanks for the discussion on XLR tips. I've been wondering how to do those, as I have Caig wipes, and the answer (as always) turns out to be simple...q-tips! :D

Unfortunately I have an integrated a-v system and have too many wires for my own good. :(
